How I Am Going To Get Rid Of Boredom And Start Growing

Lately I have started to feel bored. I remembered what Tony Robbins had said, “your emotions are action indicators.” I don’t remember clearly what he had said but it is around these lines.

Things have started to get repetitive and dull for me. I have been writing to this blog twice weekly regularly and the tasks that I need to complete to reach my goals are getting repetitive. My blog is growing steadily, my affiliate site is not doing as well as I have expected and my training for my marathon is going smoothly. Overall, things are going well but the feeling of boredom lingers.

I tried to dig deeper for reasons that cause this feeling and I finally stumbled upon something.

Boredom = Action Indicator

I noticed that doing the same things repeatedly can lead to boredom. Boredom is also a sign that you need to be doing something new and get out of your comfort zone.

I thought about it and noticed that I am not doing anything new at the moment and it seems like I am running in maintenance mode. Running in maintenance mode means that I am not growing and all I am doing is to maintain the standards. So to shake things up, I have decided to introduce things that I am not regularly doing into my routine. The only way you can kill off boredom is to start stepping out of your comfort zone and seek new challenges.

Upcoming Projects

1. Interviews

Long time readers know that I have conducted podcast interviews with successful people in the past and it has been drying up lately. I enjoy doing these interviews and I think it is a great way to learn from successful people. However, I have avoided doing it as I still have the fear of rejection and the feeling of nervousness when interviewing others.

I need to work on these negative emotions that are holding me back and start getting those interviews done. Practice makes perfect and I believe doing it repeatedly will definitely make me feel more comfortable with conducting interviews.

Note: If you have any person in mind that you want me to interview, do tell me in the comment section below.

2. New eBook

I have decided to write a new ebook. Writing an ebook is easy, writing a high quality ebook is a lot of work. I got to admit it that the first time I have completed “Unleash Your Maximum Potential”(If you have not downloaded your free copy, you can download it here), I thought to myself that I do not want to write an ebook again.

It is tedious to write an ebook as there are tons of work to do. Things like getting ideas, editing, formatting, hiring ebook designers and etc. However, I have decided to just go ahead and write my second ebook. Laziness has a limit. 🙂

If you have anything that you want to see me write about, do tell me.

3. Videos/Podcasts

I will make my own videos and post it over here. Instead of words, words and just words, I will present my ideas in videos to add more personal touch to it. I hope that this time round, my videos will turn out better. My first video for HealthMoneySuccess is a total failure. I talk like a vampire and you can laugh at it over here.

4. Consulting/Coaching

I have decided to venture into consulting/coaching. I do not have a definite plan in mind but I will definitely keep you people updated when I have some ideas about it.

What Can Your Boredom Do For You?

Boredom is an indicator that you need to do something new or challenging to push yourself out of your comfort zone. The next time when you feel bored, dig deeper into the causes of your boredom and brainstorm for new ideas and challenges. It may lead you to something exciting and help you to experience exponential growth.

Changing up your routine is a great idea to end boredom! Maybe take a vacation too if you can just to change up the scenery every once in awhile. In terms of running, when I get bored of the gym I try running outside or at a park/beach instead and it’s really refreshing to be in a new location.

Running a new route is refreshing and I can’t stand running the same route over and over again too. Exploring new areas is fun and changing our routes every now and than can help to keep injuries at bay.

    Heya Vincent!
You are indeed growing nicely, and it is good that you realize you are getting bored because now you can take the leap to the next level. I have also set new goals for myself, I am busy with a bunch of new articles (both for my blog and guest posts) and working on a video for my blog.

It does take work and it can be scary to do new things, but its fun. Comfort does not encourage growth!

    Keep up the good work!

      Hey Diggy!

Comfort certainly does not encourage growth and I’m looking to do things out of my comfort zone. I am certainly lacking behind in writing guest articles and I will put in more effort into it. Lets work hard to increase our subscriber count 🙂

      Cheers,

  3. I know how you feel. I have to always find ways to challenge myself to stay interested in things that I am already doing. It is the best way to expand your reach and broaden your brand.

Good for you! Avoiding this type of self-reflection is what keeps many people from being successful.

      Hi Hans,

You made a great point! Self reflection is something that we should do frequently. There may be things that we need to change but neglected. Doing self reflection can help us to see what needs to be improve.

      Cheers,
      Vincent

  5. Yup, start panicking when you have too little to do. I panic when I get bored because I know nothings happening and time’s wasting.

Good work on listening to your action signals!:)

      Hi Clinton,

Boredom tells us that we need to start to get some serious work done. It is something that we can rely on to help us to start taking massive action again.

      Cheers,
      Vincent

  6. Rishi says:

    Hey Vincent,

I agree, being bored might be an indication that you need or crave something new in your life. But the problem is how does one actually get enough courage, awareness, or desire to do something about it?

I don’t really think there is an answer to that question. I just think it’s a decision. Make the decision to live.

    Cheers,
    Rishi

    • Vincent says:

      Hi Rishi,

Awareness and the desire to make the change are the keys I believe. One cannot change when there is no awareness of something that needs to be change.

      Cheers,
      Vincent
