<p>Recently I find that I am getting more aware of my inner self talk. I&#8217;m putting in more effort to listen to what I am saying to myself so that I can discover whether what I am saying is empowering or disempowering myself.</p>
<p>Everyone have this inner self talk going on but not everyone will pay attention to it. But believe me, you will want to know what you are saying to yourself everyday. This is one of the key to <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/unleash-your-maximum-potential.html" target="_blank">unleashing your maximum potential</a>. <h3>Inner Chatters</h3>
<p>So what do I mean by inner self talk? The inner self talk that is happening in you is a form of communication between you and yourself. It is basically talking to yourself about certain topics and it may be positive or negative. Depending on what you are saying to yourself, your own self talk can empower or disempower you.</p>
<p>If you had read the <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/1783/how-much-have-you-grown-in-this-year/" target="_blank">goals that I had set</a> for myself in this year of 2010, you will know that one of my goals is to complete a marathon by the end of the year. My recent trainings have made me more aware of the inner self talk that is going on in my mind.</p>
<p>Recently I had just hit the 6.2 miles mark and whenever I got tired the inner chatters start to surface. Some examples would be.</p>
<ul>
<li>My legs are tired.</li>
<li>Are you sure you are going to complete a full marathon?</li>
<li>How much more further do I need to go?</li>
<li>When am I going to reach my finishing point?</li>
<li>I feel like my lungs are bursting, maybe it is time to stop?</li>
<li>I&#8217;m really tired, can I just stop?</li>
<li>6 miles is tiring enough and I still set a goal to complete a marathon?</li>
<li>Is publishing my goals on my blog a good decision? Now I can&#8217;t back off!</li>
</ul>
<p>Notice anything? These chatters are not positive at all! They create <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/1561/the-power-of-certainty-and-why-you-need-it/" target="_blank">doubts in my mind</a> and increase the possibility of me stopping.</p>
<h3>Your Inner Chatters</h3>
<p>What about you? Have you ever take note of how are you communicating with yourself? Are you failing with your <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/423/10-tips-to-help-you-lose-weight-healthily/" target="_blank">diet plan</a> or stuck in the <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/815/love-your-job-no-learn-to-love-it-now/" target="_blank">job that you hate</a> because of all the negative inner self talk that is going on in you? Are you empowering yourself or disempowering yourself?</p>
<p>These inner self talks are powerful. Imagine every time when you want to start to lose weight, your inner self talk surfaced and you start telling yourself &#8220;This is hard!&#8221; or &#8220;I&#8217;m going to suffer in this diet&#8221;. How possible do you think that you are going to complete your diet and really start to lose weight? You may not even start in the first place after your negative inner self talks disempower you.</p>
<p>If you do not notice what you are telling to yourself or your negative self talk, you are allowing it to gobble you up. Most likely you will start to <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/892/50-ways-to-make-yourself-miserable/" target="_blank">feel miserable</a> and frustrated because you will feel that you are not growing and achieving.</p>
<h3>How To Get Rid Of The Negative Self Talk</h3>
<p><strong>1. Awareness</strong></p>
<p>If you are pursuing personal growth, you may have heard a lot about increasing your awareness. Because only by being aware, you can than know what is wrong and hence make changes to it.</p>
<p>It is the same in this scenario. If you have not caught your negative self talk yet, you may have to be more aware of it. Be more conscious of your emotions. Negative self talk usually surfaces when you are harboring negative emotions. Catch them at this time and take note of them.</p>
<p><strong>2. Question.</strong></p>
<p>Once you took note of the negative self talk, observe it. Ask yourself how these negative chatters are obstructing you from fulfilling your potential and how much frustration has it cause you in the past.</p>
<p>You have to address how much frustration and pain it causes you so that it can help you to reinforce your determination to change it.</p>
<p><strong>3. Decide and Replace.</strong></p>
<p>There isn&#8217;t any delete button in our mind and our negative self talk will not go away just by deciding to get rid of it. You will have to replace your negative self talk with a positive one.</p>
<p>Some examples;</p>
<p>Instead of saying &#8220;I think I can&#8217;t lose weight&#8221;, say &#8220;I can lose weight easily with the right strategies&#8221;.</p>
<p>Instead of saying &#8220;I hate my job&#8221;, why not say &#8220;I now know what I dislike hence I will make a better decision in my next job hunt.&#8221;</p>
<p>You get the picture?</p>
<p>You can also do something to interrupt your negative inner chatter to prevent it from happening. Whenever I am jogging and when my negative self talk starts to surface, I immediately interrupt it by saying &#8220;keep moving forward&#8221;. I kept repeating this 3 words and it pushes away all the negative thoughts and reinforce on my determination to complete my run. By repeating and focusing on my so call mantra, the negative self talk will not be able to surface.</p>
<h3>Parting Words</h3>
<p>Your negative self talk can disempower you and stop you from taking the action that you want. However when you turn your self talk into a positive one, you will feel much more empowered and capable to achieve the things that you want to achieve.</p>
<p>You want to keep yourself empowered and stay in a positive state for as much time as possible because these are the time when you can take serious action. So start today by being more aware of your self talk and turn them into positive and empowering ones.</p>

<p>If we want to achieve great results and be successful in life, we need to learn from those who had been there and done that. Michael Jordan has the qualities to be successful and he is definitely a great role model that we can learn from.</p>
<p>Michael Jordan is a guy who was cut out of his varsity basketball team because he was deemed too short to play at 1.8 meter but he turned out to be highly successful in his basketball career and was known as a legend in the game.</p>
<p>He had showed the mental toughness to bounce back from failure and here are 7 lessons we can learn from him.<span id="more-793"></span></p>
<h3>7 Lessons We Can Learn From Michael Jordan</h3>
<h5>1. Our Own Expectation</h5>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.&#8221;<br />

<p>A common trait between the <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/586/how-to-achieve-success-in-everything/" target="_blank">successful people</a> in life is that they always have high expectations of themselves. We may say that this is one of the core attributes that we need in order to achieve success. When we expect a certain standard of ourselves, regardless of high or low, we will fall into them naturally.</p>
<p>Michael Jordan expect himself to be the best in the game, that is why he spent countless hours practicing to bring out the best in him. He can definitely cut back on his practice hours and spend his time on other activities but his expectation of himself to be the best doesn&#8217;t allow it.</p>
<h5>2. Do not fear failure</h5>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I&#8217;ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I&#8217;ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I&#8217;ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.&#8221;<br />

<p>Most people are afraid of failing. They are so fearful of failure that it halt all their action but the funny thing in life is that if we do not take any action, we are doom for failure. Contradicting isn&#8217;t it?</p>
<p>Failure is part of success. We can actually perceive failure as a feedback and the feedback works as a reminder to tell us something is wrong and we need to fix it. Failure doesn&#8217;t condemn us, it is just Nature&#8217;s way of telling us to fix something that isn&#8217;t right.</p>
<h5>3. Just Try</h5>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can&#8217;t accept not trying.&#8221;<br />

<p>We won&#8217;t know the results until we give it a try and that is why we must always try something before we come out with 101 reasons of why we can&#8217;t do it. There will be obstacles along the journey when you are trying to <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/786/who-else-want-to-know-the-benefits-of-taking-initiative/" target="_blank">achieve results</a>, but don&#8217;t let those obstacles stop you from trying. Everyone has their fair share of obstacles and obstacles are meant to be conquered.</p>
<h5>4. Don&#8217;t Give Up</h5>
<p>Michael Jordan never give up and that is why he is being regarded as a legend in the basketball game and not a drop out of the varsity basketball team. He was cut from the varsity team but that doesn&#8217;t mean the end of his dream. Instead of whining and complaining, he doubled his effort in training and made it into his varsity roster.</p>
<h5>5. Hard Work</h5>

If we want to achieve something, just put in the hard work and the results will definitely come.</p>
<h5>6. Make Things Happen</h5>

<p>Dreaming allow us to think of the wonderful possibilities that can happen to us but a dream is just a dream. We can spend all day long day dreaming and wish things could happen but things won&#8217;t happen without us lifting a finger. Dreams are there to inspire us but don&#8217;t just wish that something would happen, make it happen by taking massive action.</p>
<h5>7. Passion</h5>

<p>It is hard to be successful in things that you do not have passion in because it tends to bore you in the long run. People who are highly successful today have great passion in the things they do. Donald Trump love to close his deals, Warren Buffett love to invest and would tap dance to work everyday and Michael Jordan just love his game.</p>
<p>Find things that excite you and strive to achieve excellent results in it. You will find it a lot more easier to be successful in that field because your passion will help to lift you even when the chips are down.</p>

<p>First of all, you must be a firm believer in there are tons of opportunities out there in this world for you to be <a href="http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/348/words-successful/" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">successful in life.</span></a> Once you have this belief that there are abundance, there is a higher chance that you will find the opportunities that you need compared to being a negative person thinking that there are lack of opportunities in this world.</p>
<p>For an example, a secretary who make lots of mistakes in her reports created her own correction fluid which turn out to be a multi million industry. She recognize her opportunity and also took the action to seize it.</p>
<h5>Network</h5>
<p>By networking, we are opening our world to boundless of opportunities. Lucky people are always great at networking and think about how many times joint ventures are being made after talking to strangers and getting to know them.</p>
<h5>Awareness</h5>
<p>People who are lucky are normally aware of their surroundings and is always looking around for opportunities to make things happen. Their awareness helps them to discover opportunities that others have missed.</p>
<h5>Preparation Is The Key</h5>
<p>Always be prepared. The worst thing that can happen is to miss a million dollars opportunity because you are not prepared. Always spend time in educating yourself to make sure that you are prepared to take your opportunity when it comes.</p>
<p>For people who are in the stock market, only those who are prepared are able to grab up stocks in this depressed market that are selling at a bargain price.</p>
<h5>Always Take Action</h5>
<p>Without taking action, nothing will happen in our life. Action is one of the most important aspect of  being lucky and it is also the most forgotten action. People spent time preparing themselves and only to see them moving away from opportunities when it arises.</p>
<p>The person who you seem as successful only became successful after they took the action to grab their opportunity. One of my friend got his own business at an age of 22 and now have a stream of passive income which is around what the average adults are earning and he is still studying for his degree. This only happen because he took action when the opportunity surfaced. So<strong> always remember to take action </strong>and do not let your opportunities slip away.</p>
<h5>Focus On Result</h5>
<p>When we focus on fear, it is harder to accomplish what we want to accomplish because fear weigh us down and stop our progress. It is only a matter of time when fear overwhelm us and cause us to stop everything altogether.</p>
<p>When we focus on result, it will be much easier to accomplish what we want to accomplish because <strong>focusing on results</strong> will make us more positive and we will start to look at opportunities instead of problems.</p>
<h5>Leave Comfort Zone</h5>
<p>Successful people tend to leave their comfort zone to  pursue things that will add value to their life. Leaving the comfort zone tend to help us discover new opportunities and we are likely to pick up valuable experience along the way.</p>
<h5>They Do Not Burn The Bridges</h5>
<p>There are times when you see people burning the bridges when they are already successful and it is definitely not recommended because we never know when we need the help of others. Always remember this, the people we had met while we are going up are the people we are going to meet when we are going down. If things really take a tumble for you and you did not burn your bridges, you will be glad that you still can find people who are still willing to help.</p>
<h5>Ask and Offer for Help</h5>
<p>There are people who don&#8217;t ask for help when they really need it. Lucky people ask for help when they need it and they also reciprocate when others need help. When you are helping others, you tend to build up relationship and they are more likely to help you when you need it.</p>
<h5>Say Yes More Often</h5>
<p>I recently watched a movie, &#8220;Yes Man&#8221; starring Jim Carrey. It was a wonderful movie and I also picked up a few lessons from the movie. Jim Carrey was told by the guru to say Yes to everything and by saying Yes to all the things, he met lots of new opportunities and also the love of his life.</p>
<p>We do not need to say Yes to everything in life but by saying Yes more frequently, it is more likely for us to find our lucky break.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ve been there before. It&#8217;s not like it was one thing that set you off. One little thing after another just kept piling on. Almost like they were sneaking up on you. Then before you knew it&#8230; BAM! One more thing topples<br />
the house of cards and you feel like you just can&#8217;t take it anymore. Life is so unfair!</p>
<p>We all have our up days and our downer days. It&#8217;s only natural. You are not alone. Depression is fairly prevalent in the population and is on the rise.By 2020, it is predicted that <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.upliftprogram.com/depression_stats.html" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Depression will be the second largest killer</span></a> after heart disease.<span id="more-514"></span></p>
<p><strong>Now that is depressing news!</strong></p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t have to be this way however. I will admit that some people have a genetic or chemical predisposition towards depression, DO need medication, and should definitely seek medical help. However, I do believe that the vast<br />
majority of depressed people do not need medication to overcome their own depression symptoms. They just need to <a href="http://www.insightwriter.com/2008/11/13/9-easy-ways-to-get-a-life/" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">get a life!</span></a> <img src='http://www.healthmoneysuccess.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' title="How To Remain Positive In A Sea Of Doubt" /> </p>
<p>I truly believe there are ways to remain positive in a sea of doubt. I believe the way to do it is to make some different lifestyle choices&#8230;</p>
<h3>1. *Get some exercise.*</h3>
<p>The benefits of exercise on mood have been well documented. You see, there are these really cool things called endorphins. These are produced when you get your heart rate up and they help you feel less stressed and more in control of your life. They are really neat little mood enhancers and it will benefit you greatly to start a regular exercise routine</p>
<h3>2. *Change your diet.*</h3>
<p>No, I am not advocating going on a diet. I am saying <strong>*change* </strong>your diet. The foods you eat really can impact your life. Some foods slow you down, some speed you up. Some make you feel good, others<br />
don&#8217;t. Food can sometimes have almost magical properties. Experiment a little. Although it&#8217;s expensive I know sushi gives me a good feeling after I eat it. Eliminate some things, add others. Monitor the results. You can see big improvements in this area!</p>
<h3>3. *Be social.*</h3>
<p>Friends and family have a very important part in helping you maintain your positive attitude. If they are good people, they will be there for you when the going gets rough. Through thick and thin. A strong group of friends is often the best medicine to keep those blues away!</p>
<h3>4. *Be active.*</h3>
<p>When you are busy working on a project it is hard to get depressed. When you are sitting around doing nothing it&#8217;s easy to get depressed. When you are creating value and something constructive for other people or yourself to enjoy it is hard to think about how depressed you are. So get a hobby or something.</p>
<h3>5. *Smile at the world, and the world smiles back.*</h3>
<p>Fake it till you make it right? Even if you aren&#8217;t feeling happy right now if you start forcing yourself to act that way you will start feeling that way. It is amazing how it works. This may be the hardest step to take because it is a mental step and requires the right attitude. Its a way of thinking that believes that even though its rainy today it will be sunny tomorrow. So buck up, lift that chin up, and smile at the world.
