Hi Vincent,

I agree it's not too advisable to set too many resolutions for ourselves in a year. That'll only make it too challenging and there's a high chance we'll not follow through and hence, be demoralised, feel bad about ourselves, thus crashing our own self-esteem.

However, in order to accomplish our resolution/s, I'd suggest setting ourselves up for a challenge to make it more effective.

I've set one public challenge on The Power of Less forum by Leo Babauta of Zen Habits to wake up at 6.30am (Singapore time) from Mon-Sat.

And for any day, for the next 30 days, that I fail to do so, I'll buy a copy of Leo's new book "The Power of Less" for a lucky guy/gal from the forum.

Perhaps you should announce your challenge on that forum too! And maybe you might even get a free book from me, should I fail in my challenge.

Cheers~

Hi Vincent,

Nice video & tips! Im still finalising my resolutions, but at the moment I think they are:

1) Go to 2-3 fitness classes per week.

2) Spend 15 minutes each day clearing clutter from my home (room by room).

3) Avoid eating anything with added sugar (I usually do this anyway, but got into bad habits this winter!).

There's other things I need to do too like cut down on coffee, but hey, can't fix everything at once ;)

Best of luck to you, I'm sure you'll hit your goals :)

Hi!

I found your site recently and while browsing a few articles I came across this one. I like it and I do agree with most of its points, we need to read and learn more. Not only non-fiction books but good fiction is basic, imo.

I do take issue with this, though: "5. Finish the book". Not for me. Imho, if you like the book, yes, finish it. If you don't like it for wathever reason (it's badly written, you don't agree with the author in most points...) don't finish it. That's only a waste of time. It took me way too many books to learn that (I used to finish everything that fell into my hands) but now, if I don't like what I'm reading it goes back to the shelf. I can always go back to it in a few years (that's happened with a newly favourite of mine) and in the meantime I'll read something that I enjoy.

Reading should not be a chore: you wouldn't learn anything otherwise.

Besides that, I do like the article and I will be reading more of your site.

Thanks!
