You got a great name there and most people are seeking freedom (escape their 9 – 5 job ). I also see freedom as happiness, as I believe without freedom, there will be no happiness.

Interesting post! I was named after my father, Carl whom my name Carla is the feminine form of. Carl means “…from Karl, the German form of Charles (Old German) “free man”. So my name came from another which came from another.

“Free man” (in my case, “free woman”) is appropriate I think.

My mother wanted to name me Alexandra but that ended up being my middle name.

Great post, I like to think about what names mean, it’s funny how many people live up to the meaning of their name too. Vincent is definitely a name that makes one think success, victory, etc.

I got the name Bonnie (which I believes derives from Scottish, meaning pretty, good, nice, happy etc. ) because my parents said I was a very happy & peaceful baby (didn’t even cry!). I’m naturally optimistic so I guess the name still fits

I find that we tend to label others consciously or sub consciously. I try my best not to do it and as sometimes labels can get rather negative.

Hiya

I really enjoyed this.
This post got me thinking about names, syllables and mantras as used by some meditators. I realised our names are like mantras but with greater personal, social meaning. It’s the most powerful personal mantra you have.
Interesting to hear how people prefer to be called: abbreviating their names, using nick-names or AKAs, extending their surnames when married or completely changing their names.

It seems my name is scandinavian for John, which means gift of god. I’ll try not to swagger too much from now on.
