Yes I agree with all of the previous posters, it is really difficult to determine whether or not something is really organic or just a fluff label. Well in this economy People tend to look for what is cheaper, and this is what is in the supermarkets. If you live in the country it's a bit easier to get organically grown thing for a cheaper price but other then that most stick to supermarkets.

Hey, don't you know that if you buy certified Organic products, you are supporting agricultural practices that help retain soil, eliminate pesticides from the environment, and save energy and fuel? And is better tasting, more nutritious, and healthy?

Hi Bonnie,

Great to see your great comment here again. I have never eaten eggs which are not from supermarkets and I got to try them when I have the chance.

Cheers

Hi Vincent :)

I have a few essentials that I usually buy organic like potatoes, carrots, apples, tomatoes, cucumber & lettuces, plus a good wholewheat or rye bread.

I don't eat dairy, but I do sometimes eat eggs and try to get them from people who keep chickens in their gardens (my Mum has a few hens), eggs from garden reared chickens taste much better than supermarket ones!

I'd say if you want to go organic, start with the things you eat most and/or the foods which are most highly sprayed (like berries, lettuce, celery & peppers).

@Hi Alik,

It seem that there is no way we can determine whether a food is really organic even though it is labeled organic and solving this problem will help us consumer to make a smarter decision.

@Hi Emma,

It will be great if we can grow our own food. I believe it will taste great. Thanks for your great comment too. :)

@Hi Tom,

I think organic food is really getting on the trend. As what you said, there are lots of varieties of food that are labeled organic but chips is definitely not real food.

@Hi Julian,

That is a great example of optimism! You got me laughing on this one. :)

Cheers

@Emma - you said, 'whether fairtrade, organic or anything else, it does not end up in the hand of the farmer and I do not want to support that kind of activity'. I work for the world's only 100% fair trade lender and I can tell you unequivocally that the fair trade premium does in fact reach the individual farmer. Fair trade has more to eradicate poverty in the developing world than charity and other trade related schemes.

That's a really good way to make the point and I totally agree with it. But until it's cheaper I'm gonna have to stick with the regular stuff. I suppose on the bright side at least I know my stomach will be free of spiders, flies and other insects!

I don't eat organic actually but when i did a bit before the food tasted more "real".

The one problem I noticed is that this organic food thing is getting out of hand.
You walk into whole foods and you literally see the exact same thing as you would at any other grocery store.
They have the chips, ice cream, etc which all have organic ingredients.

Since when are chips real food?

I eat organic without additives when possible without high increases in price (whether fairtrade, organic or anything else, it does not end up in the hand of the farmer and I do not want to support that kind of activity) or distance travelled. Somehow those organic apples don't feel so 'organic' to the planet any more when they have travelled across the Atlantic.

Right now, I eat mostly 'non-organic', washed twice in vegetable rinse (not mere water) which gets some of what is merely on the surface. When it comes to eating, I'd like to always eat biodynamicly grown local food without additives. I'd grow my own right now if I weren't moving before the crops ripen. Unfortunately, I've never even seen fresh food marked 'biodynamic'. When it comes to organic, I'd like to make anything less illegal because we are making pests and diseases resistant and setting us up for a major catastrophe in the long run.

I do not eat organic food and I do not plan too.
Some time ago I have seen the process of preserving such kind of food... it is very little that left organic in this organic food.
That is what they showed in the show.
