This is the end of my first week in my 12 weeks body transformation challenge. So far the I am still on track on the program. It is still early in the program but I am already seeing some changes in my body. I wonder what will happen at the end of the 12 weeks time? 🙂
Have you tried many ways to lose weight but failed to do so? If you are, here are 5 common mistakes that most people made (including myself) that prevent them from making the progress that they want to see.
1. Do Not Have A Program To Follow
There is a saying that goes, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” It is the same for weight loss. If you fail to have a weight loss program, you will fail to lose weight.
Having a program will help you to take out all the guesswork. You do not need to think about what to do for each week and all you have to do is to execute the plan.
A fitness program lays out everything you need to know and having one there will help you to prevent procrastination. This is what I have been saying all the while in HealthMoneySuccess, you have to create the success yourself by making things easier for you to follow through. Having a fitness program to follow will definitely make it easier for you to take action.
There are so many fitness programs out there online and there is really no excuse for you to miss this out. There are many free ones that you can find at bodybuilding.com or premiums version such as MAX Workouts program that I am using now.
2. Following Fad Diets
Fad diets don’t work. Stuffing yourself with acai berry won’t make you lose weight in the long run. Fashionable diets will go out of fashion.
What you need is not another fad diet. What you need is to follow the tried and proven way of eating that is to eat WHOLE FOOD.
Skip the processed foods such as cereals, noodles, pasta, bread, biscuits, cakes etc. Anything that you won’t find growing on the ground or on trees are mostly processed.
Whole foods such as fruits and vegetables can’t go wrong. I lost 4 kg in 7 days simply by eating whole food (fruits and vegetables) and it simply works. Did I say that I didn’t starve myself at all during that period?
You don’t need another cool diet to follow, just follow this tried and proven diet of eating whole food and you will see results fast. I promise.
3. Not Lifting Weights
The biggest mistake that one can make when they try to lose weight is to skip the weights. You can run all you want to lose weight but you are going to waste too much time for too little results.
Running can only help you to burn more calories for that period of time when you run. Lifting weights to build muscle helps you to build more muscles so that you can increase your overall metabolism (more muscles = higher metabolism). Not to mention that the extra muscles that you have will make you look more attractive to the opposite sex, and yes, ladies you should lift weight too.
4. Eating Less
If you want to eat less, you should eat more instead of eating less. However, instead of eating 3 big meals per day, you should eat 5 to 6 small meals per day.
The reason behind eating so many small and frequent meals per day is to ensure that you keep your energy level high, raise your metabolism and prevent yourself from getting hungry so that you won’t go stuffing yourself with pizzas.
If you eat too little, your body will also store up fat as they will want to make sure that your body has enough fuel to function. Eating frequently will convince your body to let go of the fats that it has been holding onto as it will believe that it will always have enough fuel to run on.
5. Buying Expensive Equipments
You do not need to spend thousands of dollars on crazy equipments. If you are just starting out, use body weight exercises such as lunge, plank, push up, pull up and dips will be sufficient. If you work out intensely, you will see much more results as compared to using weird equipments such as dumbbells that shake.
You can spend a few dollars to get into your local gym and you can use everything that you need. Lazy to get to the gym? Fine, get yourself a pair of dumbbell and you are ready to start. A pair of dumbbell won’t cost you a bomb but it will be sufficient to keep you looking great.
These are the 5 common mistakes that many people made. If you commit any of the mistakes above, take note and proceed to rectify them. It is ok to make mistakes, as this is how we grow and progress.
