Illusions So Real That They Stop You In Your Track

illusions so real that they stop you in your track

My schedule has been pretty tight and it will be crazier for the next one and a half month due to my exams. However, I will continue to write and post at least once a week, though the articles may not to be those that are at least 2000 words.

Thanks for the continuing support and I am really grateful for it. I will still be on HMS Facebook Page and Twitter though, so drop by and say Hi whenever you’re free.

Think about a lemon (a really sour one). Imagine that you put a slice of freshly cut lemon with juices still dripping into your mouth and taste it.

If you imagine it vividly, you will notice that you salivate more even though you do not have a real piece of lemon in your mouth. The slice of lemon seems like illusion that is so real that it causes you to have physical reaction to it.

This is pretty much the same for the barriers in our life that stop us from doing what we really want to do or what we want to do that is the best for us.

In your personal growth journey, you may be deterred away from a path because of the difficulties that you anticipate you will encounter if you undertake the path.

You may think that it is so hard to maintain connections with 1000 readers on Twitter or Facebook when you don’t even have a single reader.

You may not want to start a diet because you think of the amount of time and effort needed to spend on exercising. Not to mention the great party you have to skip because you are on a diet.

The Problem With Illusion Is That It Is So Real

The barriers that we anticipate before we even encounter it stop us from living our best life ever. I’m guilty about it myself.

I used to spend many sleepless night thinking about what is the best email list software that I need to use when I don’t even have a single subscriber. Or thinking about the great nights out that I will miss before I even start a fitness program (familiar, isn’t it?)

The problem with this is that we let false barriers stop us from moving forward. We anticipate problems before we even undertake the path. You may want to travel internationally but you fear that that are 101 things will go wrong and you stop yourself from travelling.

Will 101 things go wrong during your travel trip? Maybe, but highly unlikely. Maybe the worst thing that you may discover is that you just had a great experience and you regretted that you did not travel much earlier.

Things like this stop us from living our best life. We tend to anticipate illusionary barriers to stop ourselves from doing something.

The Best Solution

I find that the best solution for not letting illusionary barriers stop us from living our best life ever is to test your ideas.

What is it that you want to do? Do you want to write a book? Join a fitness program? Travel?

You will have illusionary barriers in your mind that will stop you from proceeding. The best way is to ignore it and go test out what you want to do.

You think that your social life will be drastically affected if you join a fitness program? Go test it. Join a fitness program and test whether your barriers are there to stay.

Do you want to write a book, yet you think it is so difficult to write one? Go test it. Go write a 750 words a day and see whether it is really that hard to do so.

Don’t let illusionary barriers to stop you from being remarkable and living your best life. There is only a single life to spend and do yourself a favor by doing things that you truly want to do. What do you think? Are you ready to live your best life ever?
