I agreed with what you said. It really depends on how badly we want to reach that goal. Personally, I realize I do not really want to achieve my goal too badly till I procrastinate on my tasks to do.

Just to give everyone another point of view of doing things. Recently, I listen to The Power of Less from ZenHabits and he mentioned something about focusing on one goal and if we do procrastinate on the tasks we want to do is due to the task is too terious for us so what we need to actually do is break down the tasks to it's simpliest form and start our momentum going by doing the simpliest thing. Some people may prefer finish the hardest things first but for me personally, I prefer trying to do the simpliest thing so at least I get one thing off my head and it do build momentum for me to continue doing the next task.

It depends on how badly you want to reach that goal. You'll do just anything to get what you want if you put your heart and mind into it.

It does help if we try to create a habit instead of relying on our willpower at all times. I find that we cannot rely on our willpower for a long period of time.

Majoring in the minor is something that we want to avoid. It hurts when we end up achieving nothing when we are working so hard. All it takes is to shift our focus to tasks that are more important.

That is totally true. Our mind simply shut down when we are tired and that is why doing the important things first will be a better choice. Great point Clayton!

As a habitual procrastinator, I can perfectly relate to this blog. It takes a lot of willpower and determination to address the tasks that are most difficult, I guess that's why we must respect people that are successful. Either they've taken their fears head on or have found clever ways to work around them. Either way, credit is due.

Till then,

I am totally guilty of this! I tend to mark off the easy tasks first because it's just nice to know you got some things done rather than getting nothing done. Makes you feel more productive but you're right- I can tackle this problem by getting parts of my hardest tasks done day by day that way it won't be one huge hard task in one day.

This reminds me of an old saying that we used to have in architectures school. When you study architecture, you often find yourself staying awake literally for days on end to work up to a deadline (it's just the way it is and there really is no avoiding these "all nighters").

They always tell you to do the most challenging and most complicated things first, because when it's 3:00AM and you can barely keep yourself awake, the last thing you want to do is try something hard and difficult. Save the easy stuff for those times when you just can't think.
