Leave the first response September 1, 2008 / Posted in Personal DevelopmentMr Habit is your constant companion for life and it is a double edge sword. Use him wisely it will grant you success and happiness, but abuse him and it can be your heaviest burden and drag you to failure.
Mr Habit can be easily changed. The key is to be FIRM with him and be disciplined enough to change it. Just show Mr Habit how you want things to be done and after a few lessons once he got used to it, he will do it automatically. Its that simple! You just need keep a tight rein on him.
So what exactly is habit?
Habit is recurrent acts through unconscious pattern normally developed through frequent repetition. It is just things we do repeatedly but most of the time we are hardly aware of it and they’re on auto pilot mode.

Depending on what types of habits you’ve accumulated over the years, it will either make you or break you. But fret not, you are stronger then your habits. You can change them if you want to. If you say that you can’t wake up early in the morning for a run, try and set a goal to wake up early and go for a jog for a month. Once you get into the habit, you would find that you got used to it. You already GOT IN the habit. Now you know that habit can be changed, you can try to exchange a bad habit to a better one. It’s not easy, but it’s always possible if you put enough effort into it.
Better habits can shape your life up as what writer Samuel Smiles put it:
Sow a thought, and you reap an act;
Sow an act, and you reap a habit;
Sow a habit, and you reap a character;
Sow a character, and you reap a destiny
Start Today
Start today and change a bad habit for a better one. Just like trading in your old and spoiled phone for a Nokia N95!
It may not need to be a major change, just take small steps and change it one at a time. Write down your bad habits and the good habits you want to attain, once you attained the good habit for a month or 2, just strike off your bad habit. Take the baby steps now! Good Luck!
